South-West of Sardinia: Sulcis-Iglesiente, Arbus

(3 days / 2 nights, from Cagliari airport)

Caves, mining sites, knives museum, Punic-Roman temple, sacred well, weaving, traditional food.

Day 1: Cagliari / Iglesias/ Fluminimaggiore

Arrive in Cagliari and pick-up the rental car at the airport. Drive to Iglesias. You can visit several churches of Pisan origin, the Mining Museum and Tradition Museum. Lunch at leisure. Back to the road, continue to Masua and visit of an old mining site overlooking the sea. Continue to Fluminimaggiore to see the caves and the remains of a Punic-Roman temple. Dinner and overnight in a traditional Sardinian house.

Day 2: Fluminimaggiore / Arbus / Montevecchio / Sardara / Villanovaforru

Breakfast and departure to Arbus along a panoramic road, to enjoy the wild beauty of Costa Verde. In Arbus, visit the knives museum. Continue to Montevecchio, a small and interesting mining village. Lunch in a traditional restaurant. Continue to Villanovaforru, with a brief stop in Sardara, a town well known for carpet weaving. See Santa Anastasia's well and the Villa Abbas museum. Arrival in Villanovaforru. Dinner and overnight in a traditional Sardinian house.

Day 3: Villanovaforru / Cagliari

Breakfast. Visit the nuragic settlement of Genna Maria and the musem. Departure to Cagliari. Return the rental car at the airport before departure.
